Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency is a web site that hosts videos and commentaries looking at the portrayals of women in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. She is the creator and executive director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit website that explores representations of women within popular stories of culture. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes about women and how they are depicted in pop media. Additionally she has a mission to increase awareness about online harassment targeted at women, and other the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian who has an MA in the field of Social and Political Thinking in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a well-known public speakers. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. She has been interested in feminist issues, gender and gender equality at a early stage of her life. In 2009, while continuing to study at the university level, she created the Feminist Frequency website. She had a plan to launch an internet series that examined gender representation in games, but was the target of a harassment campaign online. It was not enough to stop her. In fact, it made her more committed to be a feminist as well as media critique. Many awards have been presented to her in recognition of all the contributions that she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and is the founder of Feminist Frequency. The non-profit educational organization studies women's roles in the pop-culture narratives.
